Suarez: NL Player of the Week! 4 HRs, Torpedo Bat Next?
## Suarez Named NL Player of the Week, Eyes "Torpedo" Bat

Arizona Diamondbacks infielder Eugenio Suarez has been named National League Player of the Week, capping off a hot start to the season. Suarez blasted four home runs in the D-backs' first three games against the Chicago Cubs, earning him the prestigious award.

This impressive performance comes as no surprise to those familiar with Suarez's career. Over seven seasons with the Cincinnati Reds (2015-2021), he accumulated 189 home runs. He continued his power hitting in Arizona, hitting 30 home runs with a .256 batting average last season. His career high remains 49 home runs, achieved in 2019 while playing for the Reds. In his 12th MLB season, Suarez has already amassed 280 career home runs.

Following his award-winning week, Suarez revealed his interest in experimenting with a "torpedo" bat, a type currently gaining popularity among MLB players. In an interview with MLB Network on Tuesday, Suarez stated, "I mean I will try one. I haven't used one yet but I want to try it. It's very popular right now. I see a lot of homers out there. It's very interesting to me to swing one and just try to see how they feel in my hands. Right now, I don't want to change anything. I just want to keep doing what I've been doing. But yeah, obviously, I want to try at least in BP, to see how the ball jumps from the bat." While he intends to test the bat during batting practice, he affirmed his commitment to his current approach for now.

Suarez's early success and his exploration of new equipment indicate a promising season ahead for both the player and the Diamondbacks. His powerful hitting continues to be a major factor in his team's performance, and his willingness to experiment suggests a drive for continuous improvement. The coming weeks will be crucial in determining if the "torpedo" bat will become a regular part of his arsenal.
