Poirier's Wife Baffled by His Red Light Therapy

Former interim UFC Lightweight Champion Dustin Poirier's wife, Jolie, is publicly expressing her amusement over her husband's newest health regimen: Red Light Therapy (RLT). Jolie recently shared an Instagram story showing Poirier asleep with an RLT lamp nearby, captioning the image with her bewildered reaction, "I'm not sure what the hell is even going on anymore."
RLT, a non-invasive treatment using low-level red light, is gaining popularity for its purported benefits. These include scar and wrinkle reduction, improved wound healing, and tissue repair through increased blood flow and reduced inflammation. Poirier's use of RLT aligns with other performance-enhancing practices employed by some athletes, including UFC President Dana White's "Superhuman Protocol," which incorporates RLT alongside other therapies such as Pulse Electromagnetic Field (PMF) therapy, cold plunging, and oxygen therapy.
Poirier, who is planning to retire after one more fight, recently lost to Islam Makhachev at UFC 302 via fifth-round submission. This marked his third unsuccessful attempt at the undisputed Lightweight title, having previously lost to Charles Oliveira at UFC 269 and Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242, both via submission. Despite his recent setbacks, Poirier remains engaged in the UFC community, offering his opinion on potential matchups for rising lightweight contender Paddy Pimblett. While Pimblett called out several high-profile fighters including Poirier himself, Poirier suggests a fight against Dan Hooker would be a more compelling matchup for the fans, citing Hooker's stand-up fighting style and strong ground game. Poirier previously defeated Hooker in a highly acclaimed "Fight of the Night" and "Fight of the Year" contender at UFC Vegas 4 via unanimous decision. Hooker's recent fight against Justin Gaethje was canceled due to a hand injury.
