Malcolm-Jamal Warner Joins FOX's "Alert: Missing Persons Unit" as New Chief Inspector

Actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner has joined the cast of FOX's "Alert: Missing Persons Unit" in a recurring role as Chief Inspector Bill Houston, a former Army Captain. Warner’s debut as the new boss airs Tuesday, April 1st. His character, described as believing in structure and rules, initially clashes with Detective Jason (Scott Caan) due to Jason’s unconventional methods. However, Houston’s perspective begins to shift as he witnesses the team's success despite bending the rules. The show hints that Houston will ultimately become a father figure to the MPU team.

A sneak peek from TV Insider shows an encounter between Houston and Jason. Jason, initially perceived as disliked by Houston, attempts to clarify their relationship, stating “I like you just fine,” before explaining his concerns. Houston’s response reveals a change in his perspective, indicating a potential shift in their working dynamic. The preview also highlights Jason's playful interaction with Houston, joking about the Chief Inspector's absence from the golf course. Houston explains he chose police work instead, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

The episode, titled “Badge #41870,” centers around the disappearance of Nikki (Dania Ramirez), a key member of the MPU. The team's investigation reveals that Raina (Sharon Taylor), a criminal previously apprehended by Nikki, is responsible for her abduction. Raina, recently paroled, seeks revenge. The MPU’s investigation further uncovers that Raina was hired by Irish mob boss Charlie McGannon (Ian Tracey), who kidnapped Nikki to prevent her from exposing his corruption. The episode promises a blend of action and character development as the team works to rescue Nikki and bring McGannon to justice. Warner’s presence adds a layer of seasoned authority to the already intense storyline.
