Kelce & Swift: Has Romance Strained NFL Friendships?
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce's high-profile relationship with pop star Taylor Swift appears to have impacted some of his friendships, according to sports commentator Nick Wright. Wright, a self-described Kansas City Chiefs fan and host of FS1's "First Things First" and the podcast "What's Wright? With Nick Wright," revealed on his podcast that he and Kelce haven't spoken since Kelce began his serious relationship with Swift over a year ago.
Wright explained that he avoids contacting Kelce during the NFL season, and that last offseason, Kelce was busy traveling the world with Swift during her Eras Tour. Their planned reunion at the 2024 Chiefs Super Bowl parade was also thwarted by a mass shooting in Kansas City that resulted in one death and numerous injuries.
However, the apparent rift may be healing. During a recent episode of the "New Heights" podcast, hosted by Travis and his brother Jason Kelce, Travis enthusiastically mentioned Wright as a potential guest to discuss NFL salary caps. Wright responded positively to the invitation on his podcast, stating his appreciation for the shout-out and expressing his willingness to appear on "New Heights" without charging an appearance fee. He emphasized his desire to help the podcast and his continued fondness for Kelce, referring to him as "my guy Trav."
While Wright clarified that he hasn't actively sought out Kelce due to his increased celebrity status and busy schedule, the exchange suggests a potential rekindling of their friendship. Kelce's comments on the "New Heights" podcast, coupled with Wright's enthusiastic response, indicate a willingness on both sides to reconnect. The impact of Kelce's relationship with Swift on his friendships remains a topic of interest, but this recent interaction suggests that at least one friendship may be on the mend.
