FBI Show Canceled: CBS Axes Beloved Series
CBS has announced the cancellation of several popular television series, impacting a range of genres and leaving fans disappointed. Among the most significant cuts are two spin-offs of the long-running FBI franchise: *FBI: Most Wanted* and *FBI: International*.
*FBI: Most Wanted*, which concluded its sixth season, focused on the Bureau's Fugitive Task Force, tracking down high-profile criminals. The show, starring Dylan McDermott, consistently won its time slot this past season. Keisha Castle-Hughes, a former cast member, expressed gratitude for her time on the series, highlighting the memories and friendships forged during its run. Unlike other canceled shows, neither *FBI: Most Wanted* nor *FBI: International* will be shopped to other networks.
*FBI: International*, which aired for four seasons, followed FBI special agents investigating crimes and terrorism abroad. The show featured a rotating cast, including Jesse Lee Soffer, who took over a lead role after Luke Kleintank's departure. Eva-Jane Willis, who played Europol liaison Megan "Smitty" Garretson, thanked Wolf Entertainment and CBS for the experience, noting the lasting memories created during filming across Europe.
The cancellations extend beyond the *FBI* franchise. The action drama *S.W.A.T.*, after a run of seven seasons, will not return for an eighth. Showrunner Andrew Dettmann expressed heartbreak over the decision, emphasizing the pleasure of working with the cast and crew. Shemar Moore, the star of *S.W.A.T.*, shared his disappointment but expressed hope for the show's potential pickup by another network.
In addition to the crime dramas, CBS also canceled the late-night comedy show *After Midnight* after two seasons. Host Taylor Tomlinson cited a return to her stand-up comedy career as the reason for the show's end, expressing gratitude for the opportunity.
While these cancellations represent significant losses for CBS's programming lineup, the network is also introducing new shows in the fall, including *NCIS*, *NCIS: Origins*, and *The Summit*, with others slated for mid-October premieres. One highly anticipated show remains scheduled for a September debut. The network also announced that the long-running sitcom *The Neighborhood* will conclude after its upcoming eighth season, but a spin-off focusing on two of its characters is planned.
