Conwell's Transfer: Top Guard Visits Indiana
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Two of the top guards in the NCAA transfer portal, Ryan Conwell and Josh Dix, are scheduled to visit Indiana University on Monday, according to Peegs.com sources. The visits represent a significant recruitment push by the Hoosiers as they look to bolster their roster for the upcoming season.
Conwell, a 6-foot-4 guard, averaged 16.5 points per game and shot 41.3 percent from three-point range for Xavier this past season. His performance earned him third-team All-Big East honors. This season marked Conwell's fourth school in four years, having previously played for South Florida and Indiana State. He is originally from Indianapolis Pike High School and has one year of eligibility remaining. Currently ranked No. 9 in the transfer portal, Conwell enjoyed his time playing under Xavier head coach Sean Miller, stating after his team’s loss to Illinois that the experience was "a blessing" and that he "grew a lot as a basketball player but also just as a young man."
Dix, a 6-foot-5 guard from Lincoln High School in Iowa, averaged 14.4 points per game and shot 42.2 percent from beyond the arc for Iowa this past season. He is ranked No. 5 in the transfer portal and also has one year of eligibility remaining. Dix is expected to arrive in Bloomington Monday evening and stay through Tuesday.
Both Conwell and Dix are considered highly sought-after prospects in the transfer portal, which opened on March 24th and will remain open until April 22nd. Their visits highlight Indiana's active pursuit of top talent to strengthen their team for the upcoming season. The transfer portal has seen a flurry of activity since the conclusion of the NCAA Tournament, with numerous players from tournament teams entering the pool of available athletes. This includes several other high-profile players, such as RJ Luis (St. John’s), who declared for the 2025 NBA draft and entered the portal after a Big East Player of the Year season, and Tre White (Illinois), who is seeking his fourth school in four years. Other notable players to enter the portal include Michigan's Tre Donaldson and Tre Holloman, North Carolina's Elliot Cadeau (transferring to Michigan), and Providence's Bryce Hopkins (transferring to St. John's).
