Bertinelli Celebrates 15 Months Alcohol-Free

Valerie Bertinelli is celebrating a significant personal milestone: 15 months of sobriety. The 64-year-old Food Network star and cookbook author shared the news on her Instagram Stories on April 2nd, stating, "I haven’t had a drink in 15 months and it’s made such a huge difference in her mental health." Bertinelli included a quote highlighting the positive impact of reducing alcohol consumption on mental well-being: "Drinking less alcohol is one of the most powerful steps you can take to improve your mental health. Alcohol may provide temporary relief, but it only prolongs and intensifies our struggles.”
This announcement comes just one day after her ex-boyfriend, writer Mike Goodnough (54), addressed speculation on social media regarding their post-breakup interactions. Goodnough, who dated Bertinelli for 10 months before their separation in November 2024, denied using social media to communicate indirectly with his former partner. He stated, "I have never at any time posted something on social media for the purposes of communicating with someone indirectly when I know them personally and have ample ways to reach them directly."
However, Goodnough also commented on Bertinelli's recent behavior, claiming she has been misinterpreting his posts, assuming they are directed at her, and reacting angrily. He described her actions as "playing a one-woman tennis match thinking there is someone on the other side of the net." Despite their split, Goodnough maintained that his care for Bertinelli continues. The former couple's ongoing public interactions have drawn considerable attention, particularly following Bertinelli's recent social media posts. Bertinelli's focus on her sobriety stands in contrast to the ongoing public discussion surrounding her relationship with Goodnough.
